Architecture

I love the lines of this old church by the hospital, all long lines, archways and ornate mouldings.  This was restored over the last 10 years. It is built in sandstone.

stained glass windows all the wealth of the church
I loved this restored old house in Fremantle if you look at the dimensions of the gate you can get an idea of the narrowness of the house.  Lovely lynch gate and shutters on the side.
sadly a lot of the beautiful old architecture in Perth has or is being demolished, the beautiful old pillars and script Young Australia League is all that remains a new building has been built behind.
This building fascinated me can you read the writing on the top, it says Manchester Dye Works on one side and on the other Lug Cheong Laundry, did they dye the fabric then send it next door to be laundered, and then below the new Duke Ellington Jazz club.
I tried to get this building from many angles, trying to capture the old 1905 it says up on the facade, neglected shop fronts below shabby in the background to the left in the middle of the city is new modern skyscrapers going up, all hard lines and glass, the middle tower is not competed if you look close you can see the cranes working there.  And to the right the yellow crane is highlighted against the blue sky.

I tried to get the best angle for these wonderful three story terrace houses, which are all business's now, don't you want to just get in and explore, those lovely narrow long windows that turret on the corner, I think I captured it from the best angle.
I love architectural buildings to tell a story and invite you in to see what mysteries lie within.

  2. Love your photos of the buildings. Especially love the way you have described them and the way you notice things e.g the crane in the background. Most people would have seen this as distracting but you have managed to capture a story with all your photographs. Well done sis. Very clever.
