self portrait

I read the article you had on your blog Phil on taking self portraits, so when I got home I got out the tripod, read up on the self timer and went out the back to play.  As you can see I need to play a lot more.  The first one in black and white and the 2nd one I had the tripod at full extension so it was more same height as me more or less, the third one I closed the bottom legs up so it was taken from a low angle looking up, I think I like that better.  I have paint brush in my hand as I don't know what to do with my hands.  My camera on timer took 3 photo's a fraction of a second apart so it gave different lighting which was interesting.  This is definitely something I want to play with, its more of a challenge when your not young and beautiful aye.  See the scowl, need to relax and I am sure the more you do the more relaxed you would get, its also a good exercise to see where you get the best light.  These I took about 2 in the afternoon, so not a good time but I just wanted to give it a go.  Have you learn't anything about taking your own self portrait.  I would be a good challenge to do one a month of a self portrait to see how you improv

  1. I haven't done a self portrait taken by myself. Silly me I thought it was a photo of yourself. The ones I have done of myself you can see the camera. I will try and do what you have done and get my tripod out and experiment.

  2. they are a lot of fun and you learn so much, try moving your tripod around, make it higher and then lower. You can try different angles. Better early morning if you can get out there, but try different light, different settings and try and remember what you have done so you can compare. Its extremely hot here today and am avoiding going outside too much, have done quite a bit of art.
    Have a good weekend
